A few weekends ago, our group of friends went to an Indian restaurant for lunch. The first thing that comes into your mind when you eat at an Indian restaurant is Curry, or maybe Tikka Masala and it's easy to order the usual stuff. For a change, I wanted to try something new. I asked one of my friends to come up with a random number. He said "26" so I looked at the menu and checked out the 26th dish - "Shrimp Biryani." Hmm, sounds interesting, I told myself. There was a risk that I might not like this dish, but nevertheless, I ordered and it was delicious! The benefits (positive experience) outweigh the risk. What a splendid surprise it was!
You see, trying something new, even if it’s just trying a new dish will help train yourself to become more open minded - open to new ideas, new experiences and knowledge. And this is essential to living a creative life. As soon as you are working on your projects, you'll be opening your mind to try new techniques, try new solutions to your problems, etc. As I was surprised how good the Biryani dish was, you might be surprised at what creative solutions you can come up with just by trying something new.
Entitled "Set Adrift Memory Bliss" for Illustration Friday - Adrift. It feels good to get lost in your thoughts and memories as you float the ocean. There's a zen feeling to it.
"Great, just great!" mumbles the hamster in a ball when he realized that he made a wrong turn and now he's adrift in a river.
Being a designer, it is important for me to always have a constant supply of creative energy. But unlike, electrical energy, you just cannot store creativity in a battery pack, keep it in some storage room and then use it when you need emergency power. I have to have creativity 24/7 or at least when I am working on projects.
So I have decided to research on ways to stay creative. As I set these practices in motion, I can see my inner "creative energy generator" producing me the power that I need. *insert mad scientist laugh here*Seriously, there are practices that anyone can do to rejuvenate their creativity. I will share these practices and my experience to you soon. I shall call this segment as "Creative Life!"
Namaste!
